About Eric

Eric Tipler has spent the past twenty years working with teenagers as a teacher, writing coach, and college admissions counselor. His students have attended the country’s top colleges and universities, including all eight Ivy League schools. Eric holds degrees from Harvard and Yale, and he is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

Full Bio

Eric Tipler holds degrees from Harvard (AB) and Yale (MA) and has spent the past twenty years working with teenagers, first as a high school teacher and more recently as a writing coach, tutor, and college admissions counselor. 

Throughout his career, Eric has taught writing to students from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. He taught social studies at Friendship Public Charter School in inner-city Washington, DC, and at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, often ranked the number one public high school in the United States. Eric also taught and advised Yale undergraduates as a teaching fellow and served as an Assistant Head of College for Yale Summer Session. 

As a writing coach and admissions consultant, Eric currently works with students across the country, as well as doing pro bono work in New York City and rural New York. In addition to teaching and tutoring, Eric writes musical theater and works as a story consultant for Broadway-bound musicals. He is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and the Dramatists Guild of America.
